Ali Dib has been trying to butch me up at City Gym twice a week for the last four weeks. I'm definitely getting lumpier in spots, but the tummy is still protruding, sometimes like a malnourished child's, other times like a small pillow strapped in place. I'm not sure it will ever be flat, a doctor once told me the muscles were sitting forward in front of the rib cage, so even if I get down to a six pack it'll stick out. Appealing.|
Another week of lengthening days, more sunshine, more meals eaten with friends. On Wednesday we had Robert and Gary (and Gary's brother) over for dinner. A great impetus to generally finish tidying the house, hang the remaining pictures, and get the good cutlery out of its box (thanks, Friedl). So we haven't had our official welcome party, but we're settled right in.
Yesterday (Friday) we had dinner with Scott and now visible fiancé. I guess she is real, and really from Canada. We went to a fancy eatery in Woollahra (Queen St, very us). I've gotten very used to the pace of restaurant eating in SF, so waiting for menus, then waiting ages to order, then ages for the bill, and attitude overflowing sees me having to tell myself that this is the way things are done here (sometimes). They're not working for tips, they'll serve us the way they want to, not the way we tell them to. Don't go to the restaurant feeling ravenous. Timing is everything.
Today we toured Elizabeth Bay House to get some ideas for our home buying later this year. I want the oval dome. Maybe we'll have to scale back.
