Tomorrow the movers come to pack our lives up - at least, they had better come tomorrow. There is a section of the 580 that melted last night, and it might make it extremely difficult for our movers to get here from the East Bay. Naturally I'm imagining the worst situation, but what will happen if they can't get here? What if we can't leave on time? We just sold the car today. Fucking Marin Honda screwed me on price - typical "it's not that hot an item", but clearly it was hot enough at their price for their wholesale buyer to drive in from Napa at a moment's notice. So carless, soon phoneless, cable-less, internetless it would be a disaster if the move couldn't happen. Calm down, Nick. It's going to be fine.|
I've been going through my papers and throwing out a huge amount of stuff - manuals for equipment I no longer have, bills for furniture I got rid of ages ago, stuff that took me right back to the first weeks stateside in 1995 with G - our initial phone connection, power connection etc. in Sausalito. The bills and manuals for the stereo equipment we bought in Strawberry Village. The endless Target dockets (we almost lived there for a while - driving to Novato three or four days a week). Car insurance policies from the beginning right through to the present, including a traditional California welcome ("You're being sued!"). Gotta purge it, though. There will be more throwing out when we're really settled in Sydney.
Yuri has much less to contend with, having stayed fairly lightweight in the various moves of the last ten years. He has time to watch Italian movies. So do I, I suppose, if I was less anxious.
